One of the best of the red Bearded Iris, 'Play With Fire' is prized for its abundance of blooms and sparkling color. It produces up to 10 heavily ruffled flowers per sturdy bloom stem (some triple socketed) that tower up to 36 inches in height above attractive blue-green sword-like foliage. An eye-catching bearded iris in the garden also excellent for cutting and display in your favorite vase. An midseason bloomer this award winner is sure to capture attention in any sunny garden.
With an exotic look that belies their domesticated roots, German Iris are among the most popular seasonal blooms in North America. Our new midseason offering, Play with Fire, is cloaked in a rich, deep red color that really pops in the landscape… no matter where it is situated. In fact, it is one of the best reds we've seen in all our years of bulb cultivation. The prolific plant produces up to 10 heavily ruffled, 5" iris flowers on each well-branched stem. With such an abundance of blooms, Play with Fire can easily fill a sunny garden bed with just a few rhizomes in the ground. Grows to 36" tall, perfect for borders or even in mass plantings.

HOW TO GROW🌱

Bearded Iris are easy to grow when planted right and in the right spot. Our container-grown iris can be planted year round! They will grow in most any average soil that is well drained and full sun to part shade. We suggest 6 or more hours of direct sunlight for best blooming. Constantly wet soil is a killer. Planting them on a slope or in raised beds helps to ensure good drainage. Mix in some composted organic matter to improve drainage in heavy clay soils.
 
When planting Bearded Iris, we suggest spacing plants at least 24 inches apart to allow for future spread of the plant.
