🌸 Winter Wax Plum, fragrant 🌼
🌸Name: Australian Plum (full name: Australian Waxberry, also known as Waxflower).
🌸Scientific name: Chamelaucium uncinatum Schauer.
🌸Alias: Geraldton Waxflower, Gold Rush Colored Plum, Hooked Wind Waxflower.
🌸Flower Language: Precious and eternal friendship, faithful love.
The Australian Waxberry will bloom from November - May each year. The flowers are fragrant, with a sweet scent similar to plum and honey, and a slightly lighter pinkish-purple scent. The flowers are shaped like plum blossoms and usually have five petals with a waxy outer layer that is glossy and crystal clear, making them an ornamental favorite. The flower branches are spreading and graceful, elegant but playful, and the leaves are opposite linear leaves, like pine needles, with a light fragrance.
Small, delicate five-petaled flowers, unique wax, nice lime aroma, easy to create a nice winter atmosphere.
Because of its waxy, non-fading flowers, Australian Lime is also often used as an ornamental cut flower.
Australian waxberry care points:
- Temperature: suitable for temperatures between 15-35 degrees, with a strong cold tolerance, but also relatively heat-resistant
- Light: more than 6-8 hours of direct light.
- Watering: drought-resistant, intolerant of stagnant water, need to be watered once every 1 week.
- Soil: slightly acidic sandy soil
Drought tolerant and easy to maintain, Australian waxberry prefers sunlight and well-drained soil. Moderate watering, avoiding over-fertilizing and post-flowering pruning are the keys to growing it. Its long bloom period and delicate flowers make it ideal for planting as an ornamental in the garden or on the balcony.
