Rhododendron lapponicum, known as "the aristocrats of the garden, the beauty of flowers". Rhododendron lapponicum originally grow in the plateau canyon at an altitude of 3000m-5000m, which is the closest rhododendron to the sky. Their roots cut through rock and soil, they rise to the clouds, and in uninhabited valleys they produce the purest flowers.
In the 19th century, Lancaster discovered the mountain cuckoo in the Himalayas of China and brought it back to Europe, where it was horticulturally improved in the Royal Gardens of England. Exported to Japan during the Meiji era, it is now the prefectural flower of Fukushima and Shiga Prefectures in Japan, and is sought after as the "Flower Queen".
