Four year old leeks (aka shallots) are an ideal home grown crop with excellent adaptability and growth rates. They are easy to cultivate and, under the right growing conditions, are able to reach harvesting standards in as little as 18 days, providing bountiful yields.

🪴Can be planted in pots or in the ground.
When choosing planters, foam boxes, old pots, plastic pots, etc. are recommended, but they must have drainage holes in the bottom.
👀Planting steps
- Soak in water: soak leek roots in water for about 12 hours to encourage germination and root development.
- Trim the tops: Once the soaking is complete, cut off the tops of the leeks to stimulate new growth.
- Planting: Gently bury the trimmed leek roots in the soil to a depth of 1 to 2 centimeters, making sure to maintain a 3 to 5 centimeter spacing between each plant.
- Watering management: Keep the soil moist and water regularly to ensure adequate water supply and promote healthy growth.
🥰Planting and harvesting
After about two to three days, the seeds begin to germinate. After about 18 days of growth, the leeks will be mature and ready for harvest. Similar to leeks, new leafy shoots will continue to grow after harvest, ensuring continued production.
Harvesting methods: When harvesting, trim off the upper leaves of the plant and keep the roots to encourage new leafy shoots to re-grow.

Light: Chives like sunlight and should receive at least 4 to 6 hours of sunlight a day.
Watering: Keep the soil moist, but not waterlogged.
Temperature: Spring onions are adapted to a warm climate; the best temperature is between 15 and 25 °C.
