Ginseng (scientific name: Panax ginseng), a plant of the Araliaceae family, is known as the "king of herbs" for its unique human-shaped root structure and medicinal value.
Appearance characteristics
Root system: The main root is fleshy, multi-branched, and shaped like a human.
Leaf: Palmate compound leaves, each consisting of 5-7 leaflets.
Flowers: Small umbels bloom in summer, green or light yellow.
Fruit: Red berries when ripe, beautiful and attractive.
Efficacy and use:
Ginseng is famous for its nourishing effect, which helps to enhance immunity, improve fatigue, improve physical fitness and antioxidant capacity. It contains a variety of active ingredients such as ginsenosides, amino acids, vitamins, etc., and is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine, health products and cosmetics.
During the growth of ginseng, the soil moisture should be maintained between 50% and 60%, and the air humidity should be maintained at around 70%
Temperature is a key factor in the growth of ginseng. During the seed germination stage, the soil temperature needs to be maintained at around 20℃ to promote rapid germination of seeds. As ginseng grows, the temperature should also be gradually adjusted to maintain between 15℃ and 25℃ to ensure its normal growth.
Ginseng planting method 🌱
Site selection: Choose a semi-shaded mountain or courtyard. The soil should be loose and fertile, well-drained, and rich in organic matter.
Land preparation: Deeply plow the land more than 30 cm, remove weeds and stones, apply decomposed organic fertilizer, and adjust the soil pH to 5.5-6.5.
Sowing:
Use high-quality ginseng seeds and soak them in clean water for 12 hours before sowing.
When sowing, keep the seed spacing 5-10 cm and the row spacing about 20 cm.
Cover with a layer of fine soil with a thickness of 1-2 cm.
Watering: Keep the soil moist and avoid water accumulation; increase the frequency of watering appropriately during the growth period.
Shading: Ginseng is afraid of strong light exposure, and a shade net can be built to maintain a shading rate of about 50%-70%.
Fertilization: Add appropriate amount of organic fertilizer and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer during the growth period to avoid excessive nitrogen fertilizer causing excessive growth.
Pest and disease control: Regular inspection, timely removal of diseased plants, reasonable use of biological pesticides, and prevention and control of root rot and other problems.
